Session 004

Duty of care

Under the hood

Tuesday, 1 December 2026

Two talks from the inside to close the year.

The last session of the year is about AI when someone has to answer for it: in a hospital, and in code. Two half-hour talks, both from the inside. As always, questions don't interrupt: they're saved for the after.

Ana Jiménez Pastor is VP of Science at Quibim, the València company, founded in 2012, that builds AI to help read medical images, with software certified for hospitals in Europe, the UK and the US. She is a telecommunications engineer with a PhD in AI applied to medical imaging from the Universitat Politècnica de València, and she leads the company's AI research and innovation.

Cris Carrascosa is a lawyer and the CEO of ATH21, the firm she founded in 2021 as Spain's first specialising in blockchain and cryptocurrency, which now advises technology and digital-asset companies. She sat on the European Commission's Blockchain Observatory working group and teaches at IE Law School and EDEM. She's coming to talk about what changes when AI writes part of the software, and what the people who build it can be held responsible for.
