Live demos
Real products running in front of the room, with the parts that aren't there yet left in plain sight. If something breaks, it breaks in front of everyone, and that's usually the best part.
Manifesto · v1 · València
A house doesn't need four walls. It needs people who come back.
BARRACA Founders House is the house people come back to when they're making companies, products and technology from València.
Founders, engineers, researchers, product people and designers. People with a company, a prototype, a piece of research, a side project or an idea too early to take to a conference.
We meet to show real work, open the hood, talk about what still doesn't work and start things together.
A community shows up when the same people decide to come back, again and again. That's what we want to happen here.
Small groups · the same faces · guest list only
You visit a summit. You come back to a house.
València doesn't need to prove it can build serious companies any more. It has startups, universities, technical talent, capital, accelerators and an international event that brings the world to the city. That work is already done.
What was missing was somewhere those people could meet often, without waiting for the next big event and without getting on a plane. Because an ecosystem runs on what happens between its big dates: the conversations that weren't on the agenda, the prototypes shown too early, the relationships that repeat, the people who decide to build something together.
BARRACA fills that everyday space. It's the room that keeps all of it alive from the inside, open often enough that the faces stop being strangers.
What carries weight here is the work, not how you present it.
BARRACA is built around the people doing the work. What counts is what you're trying to build, what you learned building it and how generously you share it. Your title, your company and your follower count stay at the door.
We like people who show their work. Code, product, architecture, mistakes and hard questions: a half-finished product makes for better conversation here than a success story rehearsed to death.
Founders House takes in a lot more people than founders. Great companies also get built by engineers, researchers, product managers, designers and early employees who treat the problem as their own.
What matters isn't having started a company. It's building something real.
BARRACA runs in numbered sessions, like records building up a catalogue. Each session mixes whichever formats make sense for who's coming and what's worth sharing, so no two nights are the same.
Real products running in front of the room, with the parts that aren't there yet left in plain sight. If something breaks, it breaks in front of everyone, and that's usually the best part.
Someone opens up an architecture, a product or a decision that usually never leaves their team. The trade-offs, the monthly bill and what they learned after taking production down.
One table, a few people, off the record. One real problem: finding a cofounder, hiring the first team, selling abroad, surviving a crisis, knowing when to change direction.
Laptops open and nobody presenting anything. You arrive with a task and leave with a commit, an experiment or a prototype.
The programme ends; the conversation doesn't. Food, drinks, music and time to spare for the things an agenda can't schedule.
Each session runs the formats it needs. The house changes; its rules stay put.
Curation runs on contribution, not on wallets.
The guest list is there to protect what happens inside. Everyone who comes in should make the conversation better, and that's the whole test: you're in if you're building something and have something to bring to the room.
We look for a deliberate mix: founders, engineers, researchers, product people, designers, exceptional students and profiles that are hard to file. People with a track record, and people with no reputation yet who are already doing extraordinary work.
Every session keeps room for new faces. Belonging gets built by showing up, coming back and helping other people.
If you can show it, don't just put it on a slide.
Tables, demos and direct conversation. The format always leaves room for the hard question.
What you built matters more than how your title reads on LinkedIn.
Unfinished work makes for better conversations than a perfectly closed case study.
Introduce two people. Share what you know. Help unblock something.
We protect the quality of the room and keep the door open to new talent.
Whoever shares decides what leaves the room.
Partners help the house exist. They don't buy the stage, the guest list or the conversation.
When a conversation needs an icebreaker to get going, it was probably never going to be a good conversation. So the house sets the conditions and gets out of the way.
BARRACA stands on the work of the people who built València's ecosystem and adds another layer on top: more frequent, smaller, focused on the people building.
Different tools, different products, the same ambition.
We borrowed the name for a reason. In the eighties a generation here decided to do things their own way, and ended up changing the rules from a long way outside the centres of power.
That attitude is what interests us, not the nostalgia: freedom, experimentation, mixing, intensity, and people who never asked permission to build their own culture. It's happening again with different tools, different products and different music, and the same ambition.
The house is the people who come back.
BARRACA has no venue. The house appears every time we get the right people in a room, and it's gone when the night ends. What stays is the relationships, the products that got shown, the conversations that carry on and the things that start getting built afterwards.
We want to be the place you come back to: where a conversation starts a company, a demo finds its first customer and an idea finds its first engineer. See you inside.
A link to what you've made is enough; no CV, no pitch deck. We read all of them and write back before the next session.
