The small print

Every session is registered on Luma, and you sign up for each night you want to come to. Capacity is held there and there's no other way to know who's coming, so signing up for one night doesn't sign you up for the next.

The guest list is closed by hand, night by night. Every registration gets an answer, yes or no, and a confirmation is good for one night only: the one on the invitation. People who have already been come first, because the house runs on repetition.

Your registration details are used to run the guest list and to let you know about sessions. They aren't shared with partners or with anyone else, and they aren't used for anything other than that. Registration is handled by Luma, under its own terms. Ask us to delete what we hold and we will.

The room is small, and every confirmed name takes a place that is no longer available to anyone else. Invitations are personal and can't be transferred: if you want someone else to come, tell us and we'll consider them the same way we considered you.

The doors open at the time on the invitation and close shortly after: sessions start on time. If you're going to be late, tell us and we'll wait for you.

If you need anything to be comfortable, access, food or anything else, say so in the application or in the reply and we'll sort it before the night.

The place is free. The only thing we ask in return is that it gets used.

A confirmed place left empty is a place someone else couldn't take. In a room this size that shows, so the one real obligation the guest list carries is letting us know.

Sessions are held under the Chatham House Rule: you can use and repeat what you heard, but you can't say who said it, which company they were from, or give details that would identify them.

It's the condition that lets someone give the real number, an architecture mistake or a round that didn't close. Without it the conversation stays at the public version, which is no use to anyone.

In practice: talks and tables aren't recorded, a demo that hasn't launched yet isn't photographed, and publishing anything with a name attached needs the permission of whoever said it. No is a complete answer, and it needs no explanation.

After a session, people ask about people. The room is the answer: a directory of who has been in the room, readable only by people who have been in it. It isn't public, it won't be, and its address goes out with the invitation.

It's opt-in and it's yours to control. Being on a session's guest list gives you access to read it, but your card appears with no name until you publish it. If you publish it, you can take it down whenever you like and it goes immediately.

A session can change date, venue or line-up. We tell you as soon as we know. Entry is free, so there's nothing to refund, but there is an obligation to give notice in time.

The house decides who comes in and doesn't always explain why. Not getting into one session doesn't close the door on the next: the room changes each time, and so does what it needs.

These terms carry a version and a date at the top. If they change, the version published on the day you applied is the one that applies, and any change affecting the guest list is sent by email before the next session.

BARRACA Founders House is an independent initiative, and sessions are private gatherings by invitation, not ticketed events. Everyone attends on their own account and answers for their own conduct.
