The small print
The house's terms, on one page.
This is what you accept when you apply for a session. There's no contract and no ticket to pay for, but the room is small and it runs on a few rules. All of them are here.

When you apply
The guest list is closed by hand, session by session. Every application gets an answer, and a confirmation is good for one night only: the one on the invitation.
One application counts for every session. If what you bring doesn't fit this month's, it may fit another, and there's no need to write again.
Your application and your contact details are used to run the guest list and to let you know about sessions. They aren't shared with partners or with anyone else, and they aren't used for anything other than that. Ask us to delete them and we will.
Your place
The room is small, and every confirmed name takes a place that is no longer available to anyone else. Invitations are personal and can't be transferred: if you want someone else to come, tell us and we'll consider them the same way we considered you.
The doors open at the time on the invitation and close shortly after: sessions start on time. If you're going to be late, tell us and we'll wait for you.
If you need anything to be comfortable, access, food or anything else, say so in the application or in the reply and we'll sort it before the night.
The place is free. The only thing we ask in return is that it gets used.
Cancellations and no-shows
A confirmed place left empty is a place someone else couldn't take. In a room this size that shows, so the one real obligation the guest list carries is letting us know.
- You can cancel your place at any point up to the doors opening, with no explanation and no cost.
- One no-show with no warning: you're out of the next session.
- A second no-show with no warning: you come off the guest list permanently, and your name isn't considered again.
- An empty line-up slot counts the same, and the night is built around it.
There are no fines and nothing to justify: a message or an email before the night is enough, and it's in time as long as it arrives before the session starts.
Chatham House Rule
Sessions are held under the Chatham House Rule: you can use and repeat what you heard, but you can't say who said it, which company they were from, or give details that would identify them.
It's the condition that lets someone give the real number, an architecture mistake or a round that didn't close. Without it the conversation stays at the public version, which is no use to anyone.
In practice: talks and tables aren't recorded, a demo that hasn't launched yet isn't photographed, and publishing anything with a name attached needs the permission of whoever said it. No is a complete answer, and it needs no explanation.
In the room
- You come to show work and to ask questions. Selling, fundraising or hiring happens when the other person asks for it, not before.
- Anyone who makes the room worse than they found it leaves that night. Harassment, disrespect or pushing after a no are enough to be walked out and not asked back.
- Every session takes place in a borrowed space. The rules of whoever lends it apply, and it gets left as we found it.
- We take photos and video of the room for the house's archive. If you'd rather not appear, say so at the door or to any host. A demo or a talk is never published without the permission of whoever gave it.
- The after is part of the night, not an obligation. Everyone decides how long they stay and what they drink, and answers for themselves.
General terms
A session can change date, venue or line-up. We tell you as soon as we know. Entry is free, so there's nothing to refund, but there is an obligation to give notice in time.
The house decides who comes in and doesn't always explain why. Not getting into one session doesn't close the door on the next: the room changes each time, and so does what it needs.
These terms carry a version and a date at the top. If they change, the version published on the day you applied is the one that applies, and any change affecting the guest list is sent by email before the next session.
Barraca Founders House is an independent initiative, and sessions are private gatherings by invitation, not ticketed events. Everyone attends on their own account and answers for their own conduct.
