The concept

València already has the talent, the companies and the ambition. What it was missing was somewhere to come back to.

Big events put a city on the map. What builds an ecosystem is the relationships that start between one event and the next. BARRACA exists so those conversations don't hang on a date in the calendar: a house open often enough that the faces stop being strangers.

Every city where things happen has a place like this. What makes it good is never the stage; it's that you always end up talking to someone worth talking to. That's what we're putting together in València.

Why BARRACA

The attitude hasn't changed. Only the dancefloor has.

In the eighties, BARRACA changed how Europe understood the night, and it did it from València. We're not recreating that story; what interests us is the attitude of people who do things their own way. Today that energy sits with the people making products, companies and technology from here. We borrowed the name; the rest we write together.

What happens inside

Five formats. Each session runs whichever ones it needs, so no two nights are the same.

  • Live demos

You show the product running, live. No slides, no recorded video. If something breaks, it breaks in front of everyone, and that's usually the best part.

  • Under the hood

The decisions that rarely make it into a talk: the architecture, the trade-offs, the monthly bill and what you learned after taking production down. You can ask anything.

  • Founder tables

One table, a few people and time to spare. The conversations that rarely happen in front of a hundred people: real numbers, hiring, and when to change direction.

  • Build nights

Laptops open and nobody presenting anything. You arrive with an idea and leave having shipped something, however small. This is where the building happens.

  • The after

The programme ends; the conversation doesn't. The best part of the night often happens after the last demo.

The house

Show, don't tell

Ideas are interesting; products that run are more interesting. If you can show it, show it: demos come first here, and the keynotes come from people who have already built something.

The same faces

Every time you come back you recognise more people, and that's where the relationships that last begin. So the house looks after frequency before capacity.

València, no apologies

You can build a serious company here without asking permission and without moving away. The house exists so the people doing it have somewhere to come back to.

Guest list

The guest list is about context, not exclusivity: everyone who comes in should make the conversation better, and everyone should leave having learned something. Once you're in, the house belongs to everyone who builds, whether you're junior or a serial founder.

Before you come

  • Where is the house?

There's no fixed address. Each session happens somewhere else in València: an office, a workshop, a borrowed rooftop. What repeats isn't the place, it's the people; the exact address always goes out with the invitation.

  • Do I have to be a founder?

No. Founder isn't about having started a company, it's a way of working: you take a problem, treat it as your own and push it through. The room has engineers, researchers, product people, designers and early employees in it. The only thing we look at is what you're building.

  • What does it cost?

Nothing. The door is free, and what the night costs, from the room to the last beer, is on the partners.

  • Do I have to show something?

No. Most of the room comes to watch, to ask questions and to stay for the after. If you're building something, ask for a demo slot: it doesn't have to be finished, it almost never is.

  • Can I bring someone?

Tell us who they are and what they're building. The room is small and every name takes up a seat, so invitations are individual; if they fit, they're in the same way you are.

  • What language is it in?

Whichever one works. The room runs in Spanish, English and Valencian depending on who's at the table, and plenty of demos are in English because the product already ships abroad. People switch mid-sentence and nobody minds.

Tell us what you're building.

A link to what you've made is enough; no CV, no pitch deck. We read all of them and write back before the next session.
